I Can’t Find A Job

Overeducated, under experienced, and unemployed

Water Meter Reader

waterIf this doesn’t convince you times are tough, nothing will! In Tacoma, Washington, the local utility company, Tacoma Public Utilities, had a position open for a water meter reader (say that 5 times fast). The utility company received 1,400 applications this past February for the position when 300 to 400 are typically received for such a job. Roughly 1,300 people were invited to take an 88-question test for the job and on testing day, 807 showed up. That’s 807 prospects for one job!

The job pays $17.76 to $23.56 per hour.

It’s no wonder why I can’t find a job! My resume must be getting lost in a sea of applications.
